What sparked your interest in IMC? How did you come to know about us?

I first heard about IMC through LinkedIn. It was clear that IMC is a place that grants its employees daily opportunities to learn, make decisions, and take responsibility for them. I think this creates the perfect environment for professional and personal growth, which sparked my interest in applying.

Can you describe what a typical day looks like for you?

A typical day starts with a lot of reading to assess the main topics and their impact on the market. I’m exposed to a broad set of information, and it requires certain skills to accurately assess what’s important to communicate with the traders. How I spend the rest of my time depends on what projects I’m currently working on. It can range from dividend forecasting to historical analysis of key past events. Overall, my activities involve a good balance of basic quantitative skills and reading, as well as the ability to connect the dots between different pieces of information. No two days are alike. Every day I’m faced with new challenges and opportunities to learn, which keeps me motivated in a fast-paced and exciting environment. Working with world-class colleagues makes it even more fun!

Which qualities or skills are essential for excelling in your role?

To excel as a research analyst at IMC, you need to demonstrate a deep interest in financial markets and be able to make the most of a fast-paced environment. The role requires you to constantly switch your focus between different topics while always maintaining the accuracy of your assessments, so prioritisation skills, quick thinking, and the ability to work under pressure are essential. It’s important to clearly share your opinions with the traders and be open to discussions about them, as well as enjoy the reading, as it will take up a great deal of your time. And, of course, keeping both feet on the ground and constantly learning is fundamental!

What motivates you to perform at your best?

Working alongside really smart people who are always open to sharing their knowledge and experience drives me to perform at my best. At IMC, you never stop learning. Daring to continuously innovate is one of the company’s core values. This commitment to continuous improvement is a huge motivator for me, and I’m able to take advantage of lots of formal training opportunities provided by the company.

I’m forever impressed by how IMC manages to curate such a fast-paced and successful environment with rapid feedback loops, while always maintaining a very friendly atmosphere where people get along well and cooperate as a team. It’s a really unique culture that prioritises collaboration, connection, and having fun.
